What better way to help your sister missionary ring in the new year than a cute watch necklace?  These pretty pieces are the perfect combo of decorative jewelry and functional utility.  Plus, you can find them in a variety of styles (don’t believe me? Just try searching on etsy), so you can be sure to pick out something that’s just right for your missionary.  A few of my favorites?  Well, since you asked…I adore this little camera and this sweet teapot, and please don’t get me started on this vintage sewing machine.  Also, if we’re being completely honest, I already own this robot necklace.  And look! He comes as a keychain, too!

These necklaces are inexpensive, and should be very lightweight when it comes to shipping. That’s good news for sister missionaries overseas!

I know I’ve already done a puzzle letter post, but I had to share this one. Just in case you’re late to the cafe press party, it’s a fun site that lets you customize stationery and other products. My sister just sent us an adorable custom puzzle for Christmas. As I was oohing and ahhing, she sang the praises of the cafepress website. How fun would it be to receive a puzzle of a special family portrait, or a photo of the two of you for a Valentine’s Day gift, or even a picture of favorite pet!

Consider the Lilies

My cousin has a beautiful singing voice, so while she was on her mission, we sent her several arrangements to sing as musical numbers in her ward. One of my favorites is Tom Fettke’s “Beautiful Savior.” You can purchase a copy of the sheet music here.

The music is drafted as a choral piece, but in my family we’ve used it as a solo or duet piece several times. I know it works comfortably in a woman’s range, but I’m not sure about a man’s range.

Additional Tips: see if you can find a plastic jar (like a peanut butter jar) so that the end result weighs less. This will be beneficial for those of you who are shipping overseas.
